GRACE KOENNECKE
Student Journalist Portfolio - Ohio University

ABOUT ME
Grace Koennecke
Currently, I'm a Digital Content Producer at WSAZ 3 in Huntington, West Virginia. In this role, I oversee all of the digital content for the news station, which includes our website, social media platforms, and livestreaming services. I regularly am writing stories for our website, as well as crafting social media posts and setting up livestream events. I also help reporters proofread their work for the website, and am responsible for editing video content after our newscasts air.
In May, I graduated from Ohio University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism. While in college, I worked for multiple publications, including The Post Newspaper, All Campus Radio Network, Backdrop Magazine, and Variant Magazine. Through these publications, I was able to strengthen my writing and editing abilities, as well as work in leadership roles that would prepare me for the role I'm currently in post-graduation.
I have also been honored with various accolades, including the White House Correspondents' Association scholarship in 2024, which granted me the opportunity to attend the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner.
Additionally, I have had past internships with Cleveland Magazine, GIE Media, and MJH Life Sciences as an Editorial Intern, with all experiences giving me the opportunity to write and edit for multiple magazines in the Northeast Ohio area.
As a writer, I like to be able to relate to my audience, as well as amplify voices who may be under-appreciated. I tend to find inspiration from what's going on around me in the Midwest, s well as what's going on in the entertainment and music industries. Usually, you can find me writing album reviews, press releases, Q&A's, or artist spotlights.
When I'm not working at WSAZ, I find enjoyment in blogging, reading, and exploring West Virginia.
Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like to learn more about my work experience.
